Dreams

It's Friday! I've been working on a few different Inspirational Fridays for the month of March  I am so excited to share them with you guys.  I think you guys will really love them.  Could one maybe involve a Giveaway?!!!  We'll have to wait and see....

I love this quote by Lowell Lundstrom.  I'm sure you all have seen it at one time or another.  I've seen it so many times on pinterest and I know I've pinned in more than once.  But until recently I never really took the time to really think about this quote.  In my "About Me" Tab I talked about pushing myself to uncomfortable bounds as one of my New Year's Resolutions Goals.  Creating this blog has allowed me to be in that uncomfortable place and do things I normally wouldn't do.  As I have gotten more of a footing and an idea of the direction I want my blog to go, I've found myself having these dreams and aspirations that do scare me and I find myself flirting with the idea of not wanting to journey down that path, but you know what?  I make myself do it, and it is such an amazing and empowering feeling being able to move forward and conquering those fears or self doubts that stand in your way in order to get you to the next level of your goal or dream.

This picture is such an ideal representation of dreams.  You have a vision or a dream.  But, it's so hazy sometimes, and almost eerie.  Definitely a path that sometimes you're uncertain you want to go down.  But if you don't take that scary, uncertain, path toward your dream(s), you'll never know what lays behind the haze, and you'll never know the impact your dream(s) could make for yourself and others.

So dear readers, my challenge for you is to think about a goal/dream and start acting on it.  Take the time to reflect on it's importance of achieving it.  Are you afraid of it?  Good!  Now take the leap and go for it!

Have a great weekend!  Big Hugs XXX

Liebster Award

So this post will be a little different.  It's not going to be a fashion post because I have some exciting news.  My blog was given the Liebster award by Southern, Blessed, and Loved!!  How cool is that?  My blog got an award!!!!  This award is really cool because it helps new bloggers get noticed by other bloggers  and readers so they can start to get more followers.  I think this is such an awesome thing to do because it can be really challenging getting followers.  People just get busy, or they aren't into following, or they just don't know how.  So I am letting you know that you can follow my blog:)

On my home page, towards the bottom of the right side bar is a little area that say "followers"  you click on that and it asks you your name and voila you become a follower.  For a blogger, it's important to have followers because a) it let's us know that what we blog about is interesting to people, b) if a company wants to collaborate with a blogger having a high amount of followers looks great because then their product will be seen by more people, and c) let's be honest... it just makes us bloggers feel special and good about ourselves lol

So for this award I am asked a series of questions by Southern, Blessed, and Loved that I need to answer. So without further ado here we go!!

What is your go to item in your closet?
My go to item in my closet would have to be my accessories.  I think accessories are essential to any outfit because they complete it.  Not to mention that accessories are so girly and fun.  Who wouldn't want to wear them?
What is your favorite midnight snack?
That's easy quinoa and veggies.... Just kidding! More like popcorn with extra melted butter, salt, and garlic salt.  Yes I add garlic salt to my popcorn.  I don't know why or how I started that, but I did and I can't break the habit.
If you could Vacation, all expense paid where would you go and who would you take?
Ahhhh!  This is a hard question.  I would have to say England, Scotland, or Ireland.  I am obsessed with historical, and medieval times.  I think these countries have so much history and so much beauty just waiting to be discovered by me!  I would love to go with Tyler and my children, but first I'd just like to take Tyler with me.  That way we can do the things we'd like to do with out our kiddies being bored and we would be able to discover fun things for future vacations.
Do you hold another job besides blogging?
Yes, I am a nurse, a teacher, a story teller, a gourmet chef, a chauffeur, a housekeeper, a cheerleader, an entertainer, an artist, an insane playdoh maker, a singer, a laundress, and a best friend.  So essentially I am a stay at home mom :)
What do you find the hardest thing about blogging is? What is the easiest?
Because my blog is about fashion, it gets hard sometimes to load up the kids in the car and find a location to shoot for my outfits, and also the time that is required.  Tyler is a gem and takes all my photos, so it gets hard sometimes coordinating around his schedule.  Blogging is also hard sometimes because when you want to add a feature to your blog and it won't work I get frustrated and overwhelmed.  The easiest thing about blogging is writing and talking to my readers.
If I could meet any celebrity what who would it be and what would we do?
This was a toughie, but I think I'd like to meet Princess Kate.  She seems like such a down to earth girl with such an eye for fashion.  I would make her give me a tour of Buckingham palace, and her place, and any other house or property that she has access too.  Then we would go shopping.  I may be privileged enough to meet the rest of the royal family and perhaps have some tea and crumpets with them!
What is my favorite thing to do on my day/weekends off?
Well since I am a stay at home mom, I don't get days off.  But if I am lucky and am able to enjoy some time to myself  I would either go shopping. (Shopping without kids is sooo amazing!!!!) Get a massage, or a pedi/mani, or just go someplace quiet where I can reconnect with myself and just relax
What do you I want to accomplish in the next five years?
When I was a tween lol  my grandma taught me how to play the piano.  She quit teaching me after a little while since she wanted me to focus on playing the violin.  To this day I wish so badly that I could sit at a piano and know it so well that I could play anything.  So by the end of five years, I want to know how to play the piano... oh and attend NYFW by invitation :)
What is your favorite joke?
I don't have a favorite joke because more than half the time I don't understand them.  So I pretend to laugh and everyone always knows that I'm completely clueless.
What blogs do you just love?
I love Cara Loren
Pink Peonies
The Barefoot Blonde
Cleverly Yours
Carli Byble (she's not a blogger, but a you tube girl)

I had so much fun answering these questions.  Thank you Southern, Blessed, and Loved for giving me this award!

My turn to award other blogs:

Alright blogs here are the rules:
First off you need to post a link to my blog from yours
Answer all the questions
Pass the award onto some blogs that have less than 200 followers
Create 10 questions for your nominated blogs
Let the Bloggers know they were given an award by informing them on their blog.
Good luck and have fun.  Can't wait to read your answers!

**Questions**
If you could meet anyone (deceased or living) who would it be and why?
Who is your idol/hero?
If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live?
Why did you begin blogging and who was your inspiration?
If you could spend a day with a blogger who would it be?
Who is your go to style icon?

Disheveled in roses

Happy Monday readers.  Did you guys have a good weekend?  Anything fun or exciting happen?  My little family and I went up to Snowbasin.  Tyler and Triston snowboarded while Lilah and I sat in the lodge and cheered them on!  I was such a proud mama bear watching my little guy cruise down the mountain.  It's crazy how coordinated he is, and how much he enjoys snowboarding.

On to the fashion post!  I wanted this outfit to be girly & romantic, but I wanted to add a twist to the outfit.  Nothing much.  It's fun to do minor adjustments to outfits, and try out trends or looks you've seen.  So I put on my chambray... Ladies this is a must have item.  It goes with everything and it's the perfect layering item.  Then I threw on my rose sweater.  BUT I only tucked in one side of the chambray shirt.  I'm not sure where this trend originated from, but I wanted to try it and I kind of liked it.  I liked the thought that when people saw me were they thinking my tucking in one side was accidental or what?  I liked my outfit coming off as mysterious I guess lol.  I went for my black jeans and I was originally going to wear my booties, but since we were going up in the mountains I opted for my furries instead.  Sure glad I did.  I added a rose statement necklace and some jewels.  Added a light pink/coral lipstick and went to watch my little guy kill it on the mountain.

What are some trends you guys are seeing that you'd like to try?  I hope you enjoy the look.

P.S. It was sooo windy.  We were coming down the canyon and I saw this little spot in Mountain Green.  When I got out of the car I about blew away lol.  But I loved this spot so I tried my best to work with Mother Nature.  So please excuse the crazy wind blown hair lol.

Raising AWARENESS through FASHION

Happy Friday right everyone?  Are you all excited for the weekend?  I get to spend my weekend with my family.  Yaay.

A few weeks ago I had this company email me asking if I would write a blog post about their company.  I checked out their website and I fell in love with their mission.

The company is Angela & Roi Handbags.  Currently, they have eleven non-profit organizations that they work with and support. What their company has done is they've made different handbags, or in some cases backpacks in different colors.  For each handbag that is ordered depending on the color of the ordered handbag a portion of the sale goes to that color specified non-profit organization.  For example, if you bought a black bag, a portion would go to melanoma research.  If you bought a red bag a portion would go to HIV awareness and care, a yellow/mustard colored bag a portion would go to childhood cancer support.

These handbags are not only designer worthy and affordable, but they support a wonderful cause to bring support and awareness to many non-profit organizations.  As if donating a portion of the sale from each bag is not enough, they also have an amazing referral program to say thank you for your support!

I am so inspired by this company and I am also so grateful that there are companies out there that realize they can do something about illnesses and diseases that we have in one way or another been affected by.
Please show your support and check out their website.  The next time you or a loved one are in the market for a new handbag don't forget to check out Angela & Roi.  Please help spread the word!!  Below are some examples of their exquisite merchandise.

I hope you all have been inspired by this amazing mission this company has created, have a safe and happy weekend!!  Hugs XxX

Superhero

I am obsessed with graphic tees.  I think they are so stylish.  I love pairing a graphic tee with a nice skirt or dress pant to tone down the formality of the outfit and make it more fun.  It would have been a perfect day to wear a skirt since it was in the 50's (Hey that's a big deal for us Utahns...especially in February) but I was FREEZING!!!  So a pair of pants, socks, and boots it was.

I love this superhero tee and I would've grabbed a few more shirts but with a different superhero; however, I was with the kids and Tyler.  I have to watch how much I buy with that guy around ;0  I got the shirt in a bigger size than what I normally wear since I wanted it more flowy and loose.  I paired the shirt with my up cycled, flare, low rise jeans, tucked the front section in (you know the drill) added a hoodie, jewels, my boots, and applied a light pink lipstick.  I still wanted to be girly even though I was wearing a boys shirt.  Did I mention the shirt was in the men's' section?  Sometimes I cross dress lol.  I originally just pulled my hair back into a low pony tail, but it didn't seem to match the outfit.  So, I invented a hairstyle I thought would go great with the outfit.  Hope you enjoy the look.  Who is your favorite superhero?  Hugs XxX

Dino Rock

Happy Monday everyone,
I hope you all had a fabulous Valentines Day/ weekend.  Anything fun or interesting happen?

So, for todays outfit post I will admit, it was a lazy day outfit.  Do you ever have days where you just want to lay around in sweats and do nothing all day?  This was one of those days.  As a mom you don't really get that luxury of being lazy...unfortunately.  So, to get myself out of those ruts I force myself to get dressed.  It really helps you get things accomplished when you're dressed for the day; and, while the outfit may not be the most chic, or elaborate creation, it's alright, sometimes comfort just has to win!

For my lazy day look, I wore my Dino rock oversized sweater.  (This is one of those clothing pieces I bought to score cool mom points with my three year old :))  This sweater was on sale for $8. While it may not be for everyone, it is definitely for me and for $8, I'll take it.  I wore a sheer button up blouse underneath so there was a little bit of layering and texture.  You maybe able to see a little bit of the collar, but I think my hair may be in the way. Tucked the front section into my acid wash jeans, put my little feet into some furry boots, added some jewels and a hair bow and Tadaaa!!!  A lazy day outfit.  What do you guys wear when you're feeling lazy?  Hope you have a great day and enjoyed the look.  Hugs XxX

LOVE

Love is not about...

I found this quote on pinterest a while ago and I am so glad I pinned it.  Because it's the month of Love and today is the actual "Love Day" I thought this quote would be perfect for Inspirational Friday.

This is so true.  You can tell somebody a hundred times a day that you love them, but if you don't show that person how important and special they are in your life, the words, "I Love You" soon become a mockery of love and fall on deaf ears.

So my challenge to you dear readers is to really show your loved ones through your actions and acts of service how much you really do love them,  Continue to say the words "I Love You" but remember they are felt and heard even more when love is shown.

I hope you all have a wonderful and special Valentines Day.

**Smile at strangers today of all days because some do not have a loved one to smile with**

Lots of Hugs XxxxxX

Roses and Lace

Happy Valentines Day!  Well, almost I guess.  I love Valentines day.  Ok, who am I kidding?  I love every holiday.  I love that you get to change your house every few months by adding adorable decorations.  For Triston's first Valentines Day I decided I was going to heart attack our house.  I picked out adorable heart shaped decorations and then stuck them to our walls with tack.  But those things just weren't sticking!  My sister came over and I showed her the tack that I had been using.  Turns out it wasn't tack but modeling clay!   Everywhere I had put the "tack" there were little spots of discoloration where the clay had eaten through the paint!!!  Yikes right?  What are some of your most memorable Valentines day stories?

For my look I wanted to do something girly and flirty.  Usually I just wear jeans and a cute valentines day shirt or sweater.  I paired my high waisted rose skirt with a black shirt and then put a lacy crop top over my shirt to give texture.  Added a pinkish/peach (is there an exact color name for this combo??) rose statement necklace and bracelets.  Added some loose romantic waves to my hair and finished the look off by mixing a coral lipstick with a light pink lipstick.  Hope you enjoy the look.  Have a wonderful valentines day.  Hugs XxX

A BOLD! Red Lip

I Love a bright red lip!  It is so classy and chic, especially during the cold winter months.  Bold red lips just scream Marilyn Monroe don't you think?  I wanted my look to kind of revolve around my red lipstick, so I used my lipstick as my accent color.  I am in love with my shirt from Tjmaxx.  That store is just a treasure trove, it does take time and patience, but you'll always come out with a prize.

The cut of this shirt and the print of it gives a hint of the 1950/1960s.  Again tuck the shirt in to give yourself a little bit of figure.  Do you notice something different....?  Yep, I left my skinny belt off.  I thought the outfit looked better without a belt.  Next time you reach for your usual clothing essential see what happens when you don't use it.  To finish the look, I put on my booties and jewels.  I think an outfit always needs jewels to complete it.  Hope you enjoy the look.  Hugs XxX

You are Special

I am obsessed with children's books.  Ask my husband Tyler.  I will usually by a new children's book once a week.  I can't help myself!  I think it is so important that children start reading or looking at books at a young age.

But, out of all the children's books that we own, this book is by far my most favorite book.  On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman.  The first time I saw this book was when Kourtney Kardashian posted it on her instagram page. (Now don't hate... ;))  I have two other books by Nancy that I love as well, so I thought I would look into buying this book.  I am so happy I did.

Even though this is a children's book, I strongly believe that in addition to every child owning their own book, EVERY ADULT should own one as well.  When I first read this book, I got a little teary eyed.  (Crying is very unusual for me, so it was a big deal!)

In her sweet way, Nancy talks about what effect your birth had on nature, and all the animals.  She talks about how special you are, and how there will only be one of you ever!
When I read that line, I stopped for a moment and thought, "Oh my gosh, this is so true!  There is only one Jaimey Tripp in the whole wide world!!" This sudden epiphany made me realize how easy it is to get so caught up in my daily life, that I kind of forgot that I am special because there is only and ever will be one of me!

So my dear readers, do yourself a favor and go out and spend $5-$10 on this wonderful book.  Give it to a new mommy for her child, give it as a gift to your teenage sons and daughters, give it to your friends, husbands, wives, family members.  Remember how different you are and embrace everything there is about you.  Read this book as often as possible and try not to get so caught up in your every day lives that you forget why you are special, and why you are you!  Make your life count, and share who you are and everything about you with those around you!  Show the world how special you are!  Hugs XxX

The day I pretended I was a paleontologist

**Just a friendly Reminder that my giveaway closes tonight at MIDNIGHT MST!!!  Check out my first giveaway post for official rules.  Winner will be announced tomorrow so watch for your name, keep your fingers crossed, and good luck.  Hugs XxX!!**

I am obsessed with this adorable sweater.  I saw it, grabbed it, and bought it without any thought.  It's one of those pieces where your fashion soul just knows it's the right piece for you and there is absolutely no need to think or mull it over in your head.  You just know the article of clothing was made specially for you.  And a bonus for me?  I scored "Cool Mom Points" with my 3 year old son.  He thinks I'm pretty cool when I wear dinosaur sweaters.

I think sweaters look best when there is another layer underneath them.  This isn't always the case, but I felt like this was one of those times when an extra layer was needed.  So, I added one of my staples to the outfit... my beloved chambray shirt.  Put on my $10 black jeans.  (You know how I feel about bargains) and added my skinny belt, black boots, and jewels.   Applied my fuchsia lipstick and was out the door.

Next time you feel like something is missing when you are wearing a pull over sweater, try adding a flannel, chambray, or a button up shirt to see how it transforms the outfit.  Tuck it in in the front for a more fitting and polished look!  Hugs XxX
